Frequently Asked Questions
About IntelliSee
Common questions about IntelliSee’s AI-powered threat detection platform.
What is IntelliSee?
IntelliSee is an AI-powered computer vision platform that layers onto your existing security cameras to detect threats in real time. All processing occurs on premises — no cloud dependency in the detection path. The platform uses no facial recognition and has earned the Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT) designation.
How does AI detect guns on existing cameras?
IntelliSee’s proprietary deep-learning models analyze every video frame in real time, classifying objects against trained threat models. When a potential threat is identified, multi-frame validation confirms the detection across 3–5 consecutive frames — evaluating distance, angle, clarity, and confidence — before any alert is fired. This approach dramatically reduces false positives while maintaining sub-second detection speed.
What is the DHS SAFETY Act QATT designation?
The DHS SAFETY Act QATT designation is a designation from the Department of Homeland Security recognizing IntelliSee as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology. This means IntelliSee has been independently evaluated and verified for its effectiveness in real-world threat detection scenarios. The designation provides important liability protections and signals to organizations that the technology meets rigorous federal standards.
Does IntelliSee use facial recognition?
No. IntelliSee detects threat types and object classes — not individual identities. The system identifies weapons, hazards, and behavioral patterns without capturing or storing any biometric data, personally identifiable information (PII), or protected health information (PHI).
Detection & Capabilities
What threats can IntelliSee detect?
IntelliSee detects a wide and growing range of threats including weapons (handguns, rifles, knives), falls, unauthorized access, loitering, crowd formation, slip-risk hazards, perimeter breaches, vehicles in restricted zones, cell phone use in secure areas, and smoke or fire. New detection models are developed continuously and deployed automatically to all active systems.
How fast does IntelliSee detect threats?
Object detection occurs in under 1 second per frame. Multi-frame validation confirms the threat across 3–5 consecutive frames, typically completing in 3–5 seconds. Alerts are dispatched immediately after confirmation. The total pipeline from first detection to alert delivery is under 5 seconds.
How does IntelliSee reduce false alarms?
IntelliSee uses multi-frame validation: an initial classification must be confirmed across multiple consecutive frames, with each frame evaluated for distance, angle, clarity, and confidence before any alert fires. Detection thresholds are calibrated to each deployment environment, further reducing nuisance alerts while maintaining high sensitivity to real threats.
Can IntelliSee detect threats at night or in low light?
Yes. IntelliSee works with any IP camera feed from 480p to 4K+. Detection performance depends on camera quality and available lighting — most modern IP cameras with infrared or low-light capabilities provide sufficient image quality for accurate detection around the clock.
Deployment & Integration
Does IntelliSee require new cameras?
No. IntelliSee works with any existing ONVIF-compliant or RTSP-enabled IP cameras, from 480p to 4K+. There is no need to replace cameras or install new hardware — the on-premises appliance simply connects to your existing camera feeds.
How long does deployment take?
A typical deployment completes in 1–3 days. The on-premises appliance connects to your existing camera feeds and begins analyzing video immediately. IntelliSee’s team handles configuration, calibration, and testing to ensure optimal detection performance for your specific environment.
What VMS and notification systems does IntelliSee integrate with?
IntelliSee integrates with leading platforms across the security ecosystem, including RapidSOS for direct 911 dispatch, AtlasIED for PA and lockdown systems, Singlewire for mass notification for cloud VMS, and Milestone Systems for XProtect VMS overlay. Additional integrations are available — contact IntelliSee for details on your specific environment.
Can IntelliSee work with existing cameras?
Yes — IntelliSee is compatible with any ONVIF or RTSP camera. This includes cameras from Axis, Hanwha, Hikvision, Dahua, Bosch, and other major manufacturers. If your cameras can output a standard video stream, IntelliSee can analyze it.
Privacy & Security
Does IntelliSee store or transmit video?
No. All processing occurs on the on-premises appliance within your network. No video is stored by IntelliSee. No video is transmitted externally. There is no cloud dependency in the detection path — your video never leaves your facility.
Is IntelliSee HIPAA compliant?
IntelliSee processes no protected health information (PHI) — no patient records, no biometric data, and no facial recognition. The on-premises architecture with no external video transmission is fully compatible with HIPAA-regulated environments such as hospitals and healthcare facilities.
How much does IntelliSee AI camera software cost?
Pricing is based on camera count and the detection types required for your environment. Because every deployment is different, IntelliSee provides customized quotes tailored to your specific camera infrastructure and threat profile.
